System Requirement
================

Window 2000/XP/ME/Vista/Window 7

What is Chromium 11?
================

Chromium 11.0.669.0 introduces two new flags, GPU Accelerated Compositing as well as a flexible integration of Instant Search.
GPU Accelerated Compositing enables 3D CSS and promises higher performance due to the use of GPU processing capability, but it appears that this is a very experimental feature as Chrome 11 did not make it through a single GPU test in our test suite. It is quite apparent that Google has quite a bit of work left to do until full GPU acceleration will be available in a final version of Chrome. It is unlikely that hardware acceleration will make it into version 9, which will be going into beta before the end of the year.
Much more promising is Instant Search, which returned to the flags options in Chromium. It is now called Instant Type and the user can choose between a verbatim version or predictive and non-auto-complete variants. All three options work smoothly and will make it into the Chrome settings menu hopefully soon. Instant Type appears to work smoothly and interfaces nicely with the regular Google Search engine. However, this new version lacks a dedicated back button, that would allow a user to return seamlessly to a previous page after an Instant Search is initiated through the URL bar.
Instant Search or Instant Type may be the most mature features within the Chrome flags as cloud features such as remoting and cloud print are still incomplete. Tabbed Settings are still being refined, the promised print preview still lacks the actual preview and web apps related support (CRX-less web apps, background apps) have little use until the start of the Chrome Web Store. All flags are displayed when about:flags is entered in the URL bar of the browser.
Google is also preparing two specific feature to accelerate web browsing: Webpage pre-rendering appears to be inactive at this time, but the activation of snap start through a switch can accelerated the display of most web pages through an abbreviated handshake model (while it can fail to load other websites.) You can try snap start by adding -enable-snap-start to the launch of the browser.

Features
======

A base compiler which is used for all code initially. The base compiler generates code quickly without heavy optimizations. Compilation with the base compiler is twice as fast as with the V8 compiler in Chrome 9 and generates 30% less code.
A runtime profiler which monitors the running system and identifies hot code, i.e., code that we spend a significant amount of the time running.
An optimizing compiler which recompiles and optimizes hot code identified by the runtime profiler. It uses static single assignment form to perform optimizations such as loop-invariant code motion, linear-scan registe allocation and inlining. The optimization decisions are based on type information collected while running the code produced by the base compiler.
Deoptimization support which allows the optimizing compiler to be optimistic in the assumptions it makes when generating code. With deoptimization support, it is possible to bail out to the code generated by the base compiler if the assumptions in the optimized code turn out to be too optimistic.

Thanks again robot for sharing this with us, and coolng for posting it on the forum for everyone else to check out. Chromium is such a fast and easy-to-use browser that it puts Internet Explorer to shame (for me at least)! Haha love Chromium it's the best browser after Mozilla Firefox! Also you know that pic you posted above coolng? The Google search bar page...what's the point of having the I'm Feeling Lucky search option? I never really tried it out, not sure what's the difference if you click that or just hit Google Search button, always wondered about that...lol tongue

p.s. do let me know how to set signatures so that they appear the way I'm typing it below in EVERY post cos having to type it and change the colour/font etc in each post gets really tedious and I just like to sign off with my username down below, just a bad habit I guess...lol...thanks mate

Logged in as clark2400 | Group "*" and a smaller window pops up and I clicked on Edit User Details but I still can't find exactly where I have to go to edit the signature for my posts...do you have a direct link so that I can just login with my details there and do the signature changes? Sorry for the trouble man, but I really can't see where to add my signature at profile management...thanks in advance, hope this is the last time I have to type it out like I'm going to now below to sign of this post...lol wacko

ALL FIXED NOW, THANKS COOLNG FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE WITH GETTING MY SIGNATURE SORTED OUT! Browser problem with Firefox, nothing Chromium couldn't fix though don't know why Firefox was being so difficult with me making changes to My Profile section. Anyway all done now as you can see below this post, real happy about that. biggrin
